Skate Park Crowdfunder now live!

A major fundraising effort is now underway as Brantham enters the final stretch of its two-year campaign to build a brand-new skate park for children, young people, and families in the village.
The ambitious £200,000 project is now tantalisingly close to becoming a reality after Babergh District Council awarded £100,000 in CIL funding for the project. This takes the total amount raised to £178,000.
Previous funding had been provided by Brantham Parish Council (£40,000), the National Lottery (£20,000), and Lawford Parish Council (£10,000), with the remainder from various community fundraising activities.
But time is running out to make the final push, with just five weeks left in the public crowdfunding campaign.
The project needs just £22,000 to reach the £200,000 build cost. However, the organising team behind the Brantham community skate park has been given a £30,000 public crowdfunding target to secure vital match-funding from Sport England, which will match whatever is raised over £15,000.
This means every donation from community members or businesses, no matter how small, will have double the impact.
Any funds raised above the £200,000 build target will be used to provide skateboards, safety equipment, and even skating lessons for local young people.
Brantham skate park campaigner Abi Edevane says the next few weeks will be crucial.
She says, “Right now, we are under huge time pressure. Our public crowdfunding campaign will only be live until 14 April, so we’re keen to get the message out far and wide. The support we’ve had from the community has been fantastic, and we’re now so close to the finish line that we want to make it clear that every single donation, whether that’s £5, £10 or £20, will make a real difference.”
“Once the funding is secured, we need to start building the skate park within six months, so there’s a real possibility that Brantham could have its own fully built skate park by Christmas, delivering an exciting and much-needed new facility for local families.”
The crowdfunding page is now live and open to residents, businesses, families, and community groups. Abi and the rest of the organising team behind the project are urging everyone locally to donate whatever they can and to share the campaign widely.
She concludes, “This is the moment to get behind the skate park project. We’re so grateful for all the support we’ve received so far, and we’d like to offer our deepest thanks to everyone who has donated toward our target. It’s incredibly exciting, and we really hope that everyone can help us turn this dream into a reality.”
