Brantham Parish Council

Brantham Parish Council serves the residents of Brantham. Amongst our responsibilities are .....

We assist with crime prevention and liaise with both Babergh District Council and Suffolk County Council on our residents' behalf.

The Council is made up of eleven councillors and a part-time clerk (who is the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer of the Council), supported by an Assistant Clerk. The electorate vote the Councillors onto the council at the May elections which are held every four years. If there are less than 12 candidates then an election is not held and the candidates automatically become councillors (unless there is a strong objection by a member of the public).

The Council meets every month (except August), usually on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7.00 p.m. in the Village Hall. The general public are welcome at these meetings and may speak during the Public Forum session to ask questions and voice concerns. The agenda is issued at least 3 working days prior to the meeting and displayed on this website and the noticeboards.

There is more detail about the council structure and "who does what" on the responsibilities page.
