Brantham In Bloom Launches Community Vision for a Greener Village
Residents, community groups, schools, businesses and local organisations are being invited to help shape the future of Brantham as a new community initiative, Brantham In Bloom, launches on 6 July 2026, 6.30pm at Brantham Village Hall.
The initiative aims to bring together the many people already working to improve Brantham's environment, public spaces and biodiversity, while encouraging even more residents to get involved. Organisers hope the project will help coordinate and expand existing efforts, with the long-term ambition of entering the Anglia in Bloom competition in 2027.
Ahead of the launch, Brantham In Bloom will have a stand at the Brantham Village Fete on Saturday 20 June, from 10am to 4pm. Children will be invited to plant their own sunflower seed to take home and grow, thanks to the support of ByPass Nurseries, Capel St Mary.
Assistant Parish Clerk, Lauren White said: “We want Brantham In Bloom to be a project for everyone, and that includes our younger residents. The sunflower planting activity is a simple but fun way to get children excited about growing things and caring for the environment."
One of the initiative's first projects is the creation of a new community memorial garden at Merriam Close Play Area. Developed by local volunteers, the garden will provide a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance while enhancing local biodiversity. The project has been created in memory of Anita Rose and as a positive response to a tragedy that deeply affected the local community.
Parish Councillor Martin Clark said:
"Brantham already has so many passionate individuals and groups doing fantastic work for our environment and community. Brantham In Bloom is about bringing those efforts together and creating new opportunities for people to get involved. Whether it's planting flowers, creating wildlife habitats or improving public spaces, everyone has something to contribute."
Residents and community organisations are encouraged to attend the launch meeting on 6 July to find out more and help shape the future of Brantham In Bloom.
